I came across a verse many months ago in my “Bible in One Year” plan. It stood out among all the other verses I read that day so I saved it in my blog notes. [If you haven’t read through the Bible, you should give it a try. The YouVersion app has many plans to choose from and you will actually read through the entire Bible in one year.]
So… here’s the verse: “Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. No one was sorry when he died. They buried him in the City of David, but not in the royal cemetery.” 2 Chronicles 21:20 NLT
I know this isn’t a typical Christmas verse. But it is one of the saddest statements in the Bible. How terrible that no one was sorry when he died. What a way to be remembered – or should I say… not remembered. Don’t let this be your epitaph.
You only have one life to live, so live it with purpose. Be intentional about making a difference in someone else’s life.
Okay. So… it’s Christmas time. Do you want to have a Merry Christmas? Look for ways to give… not gifts wrapped in fancy boxes and beautiful bows. Give what can’t be wrapped up. Joy. Hope. Strength. Love. Encouragement. Touch the people that are in your circle of influence; the people God has brought into your life!
I promise… you will have a very Merry Christmas!!! And don’t wait for next Christmas to do it again. Stay focused throughout the New Year… Give a smile! Give a hug! Give an encouraging word! Give a pat on the back!
Living in HIS Joy at Christmas!
